Subject:Converting large WP docs to PDFs From:Joyce Fetterman <JoyceF -at- gtsoftware -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 14 Mar 2001 17:32:09 -0500
(I posted this query to Acrobat Talk earlier in the week and received
limited responses. Perhaps some Whirlers will have additional info to
share...)
I have several large manuals to convert from WP into PDFs. The manuals
consist of 10-18 "chapters" (separate WP files) and run from 300-450 pages
in length (total).
Is it reasonable to create a master document (combining all the chapters)
and then convert the manual into a single PDF? Would it be better instead to
create an individual PDF for each chapter? Or is there a better option, such
as combining two or three chapters into a PDF, and then linking the
"chunks"?
Maybe the real question is this: what is the maximum size (number of pages)
of a *usable* PDF? Are there file size guidelines? (I have been told that PC
resources can limit how well a large PDF functions. Does anyone on the list
have a guideline for maximum number of pages in a working document?)
