I have a theory on that, and it might actually make business sense, too. <g>
Military officers, even staff officers, are trained to be leaders first,
managers second. It is in the nature of military activity that leaders are
needed. Forgive me if I suggest that in business the primary focus is on being
a manager first; rarely are leadership qualities appreciated (particularly
where they are needed) in management.
