Geoff didn't mention that the latest STC Intercom
Magazine (April 2001) contains an article, "The Value
Added by Technical Communicators" by Mark Edelman of
the New York Metro Chapter of STC. Mr. Edelman does
not give quantitative data, but supplies a list of
concepts that you can use yourself to provide a value
assessment of the tech writer role in your own firm.
(BTW, This issue features a wonderful article about
cheating the fast-cheap-good-pick-two triangle, by
Geoff himself! Humility probably explains why he
didn't mention the latest magazine in his post. <g>)
