That's about the same for me :}...
Really, though. I thumb through the manual before doing anything else to familiarize myself with the interface, read the FAQ's, et cetera.
I'm a "hands-on" kind of person, so I like to twist and turn the thing if at all possible. I'm a bit more cautious with hardware than software, so I spend a bit more time with those manuals. If I'm putting something together, like a piece of furniture from a kit, I usually just jump in and ignore the instructions, since they're usually worthless anyway (No offense to writers of these - If, indeed, anyone does write them). To learn software, I install it and start playing, refering to the manual/help file only when I get stuck.
To be quite honest, I don't know that I've ever read a manual from cover to cover, though.
