Funny - I love the Sauder Furniture manuals, and do
follow them carefully for these reasons:
- the parts count that's always given at the beginning
(with matching pictures that look like the real
items!) helps me make sure they didn't short me on
screws, bolts, pegs, boards. No amount of hands-on
assembly-by-intuition is going to help if they left
out important parts (3 pieces out of 30 can mess you
up).
- the sequence can be very important, because that
particle board can be just a little fragile. My
monstrously-large "credenza" has two large sections
that must be assembled first, before connecting
together, or crrrrAck!
(I've disassembled and reassembled this thing every
time I've moved, each time bitterly promising myself
that I will finally sell it before my next move. Ha.
They'll bury me with that d -at- %$ manual. <g>)
OK, so 3000+ people know I have no taste, surrounded
by my particle board faux "colonial" decor. I just
had to speak up for Sauder's manuals. Dead-on
graphics, accurate part counts, good, clear writing...
some tech writer's doing an excellent job, and
deserves a pat on the back.
