project. We had to go out and find a project and use MS Project to create a
timeline."
I love the second part, but in my ideal world you wouldn't have to "find"
your project because your tech writing department would cooperate with the
various engineering and science departments on campus to develop cooperative
courses. Engineers and scientists need just as much to learn how to work
with technical writers as you do how to work with them, so ... . Keep the
project management emphasis for sure. The numbers won't always match
one-for-one, obviously, but that then is opportunity for "teaming" with
other writers (for you) or for the engineer/scientists to team with each
other as well as you or your team ... this is good learning, too, and your
course administrators get to think on their feet a bit and keep current on
science/engineering topics. This could provide future job contacts, too.
