Point well taken. I think I would have students dip in and out of it, but if
this is a degree or certificate course, I would hold off on it until they
clearly understood how to write and what to write.

I don't know that I would agree that "Managing..." is not appropriate
for beginning students. While it is extremely comprehensive and perhaps
overwhelming for a beginner, I think it provides a great deal of
background of how projects progress in an ideal (but not necessarily the
real) world and gives insight to the overall project. I do agree that
Managing...." isn't appropriate as a textbook but it is a terrific
reference tool.
