Was this friend also a tech writer? I've found myself doing the "Oh, it does
*that*? That's stupid! Ehm, I guess I'll write it up as a feature..." act on
occasion. I'm not proud of it (although I might snigger at it behind my
hand), and have become much better at feeding my surprise/dismay/disgust
back to the developers[1]...
