To those list members who hire writers: would you mind sharing your
thoughts on what makes a resume stand out?
For me, it's evidence that you can straddle two worlds -- the techie world and the artsie world.
If you come from a technical background, the challenge is to persuade the hiring manager that you can write. If you come from a humanities background, you have to show that you enjoy delving into technical subjects. All the technical writers I know are stronger one way or the other, but the good ones have an affinity for both sides of the job.
