Suppose you were a wholesale grocer and you wanted to emphasize that you handle not just ordinary groceries one might find on an open shelf but also items that would be in the cooler or the freezer. (I know it's a stretch, but bear with me a moment. This pertains to the _utlize_ as jargon discussion.)
Now suppose you were writing a blurb to describe your company, and you began the sentence with, "[name withheld to protect the guilty] is the leading supplier of quality frozen, chilled and" ... and what? I need a word here. Hmmm. Okay, I've got it--ambient! Yes, that's it! "...the leading supplier of quality frozen, chilled and ambient food to the catering industry ...."
Ah think ah'm gonna run right out to the supermarket and buy me some ambient food rat now. Ooh, no, just a minute. First I wanna click the prominently displayed "Company Statement on Foot and Mouth" link on the company's home page.
