TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
For what its worth, the idea of the left or the right side of the brain
controlling personality of learning style has been somewhat discredited. The
brain does contain two distinct hemispheres, but human behavior and issues
such as creativity are far more complex than that and have to take into
account things such as learned behavior and perception.
In other words, EVERYONE is whole brained and there is no such thing as a
simple dualistic description of creative vs. empirical thinking. Its a
complex continuum.
Of course that doesn't make decisions about training or document design any
easier for us...

mistakes faster than any invention
in human history--with the possible
exceptions of handguns and tequila."

Hey, is this a logical assumption? After all, one would think that
technical writing would involve some creativity and right brained thinking.
I would consider myself more whole-brained (using both parts more or less
equally.) It does cause some conflict when I can't decide which is more
important, the analytical approach or the holistic approach, but it usually
works out in the end. Anyone feel that they are cerebral switch hitters?
