Acrobat 5 is what you need. Acrobat 4 doesn't have the capability of saving
as RTF. And....ScanSoft claims to have a PDF-to-Word converter as part of
their standard Omnipage Pro 11 OCR software. I have no idea of how well it
works.

Legend has it that one can save a PDF file as RTF, and then it's editable in
Word. I just tried it for the first time, and I get almost nothing but
gibberish, e.g.:
