> I started reading about the idea that human culture began in our distant
evolutionary past as a form of sexual display - like the peacock's tail.
With humans, this kind of evolutionary pressure became fantastically
over-developed and varied, and - unlike the case in many species - both
sexes came to engage in it.

To add a wee bit to your supposition, we have just the right amount of
sexual desire to support this. Too much and we would still be chimps - why
evolve when you can just f*** instead - too little and we wouldn't have
enough reason to interact on a primitive level.

> Now, in some humans, display takes the form of earning money or being
athletic. With me, the display just happens to be primarily verbal. :-)

<tongue in cheek> Does that qualify as "All talk, no action?" <removes
tongue and RUNS!>
