If you insulate the writer from heat, you also insulate the writer
from many good sources of information, since most of the best sources
are also tough, crusty, brusque, and beligerent.
If writers cannot stand on their own two feet, how do they handle
triage when they have 3 hours left to deadline or when a developer
wants stupid changes after deadline.
The writer needs to be equal, not coddled. Besides...if the people
that this writer works with sees that s/he is being sheltered,
they'll have him/her for lunch. I would. Be my equal (or at least
try) and I'll treat you as such. Be weak and I'll treat you as such.
