This situation depends upon which condition you are trying to claim or
avoid:
- To avoid warranty/liability provisions (may not be a failsafe legal
defense): Disclaimer
If there are no provisions for a warranty/liability, a brief statement can
be made to substantiate the disclaimer: 'Disclaimer: Repairs, modifications
and upgrades are not covered by a warranty.' or 'Disclaimer: The ABC Company
assumes no liability in conjunction with the use of this product.'
- To limit liability: Limitation of Liability
- To limit warranty: Limited Warranty
If the warranty/liability is 'limited', the conditions to which it is
applicable should be listed. Proprietary notices are another animal.

I am sorry for the OT message, but I don't know whom to ask instead.
I know y'all are not lawyers (and don't play one on TV), but:
A developer asked me which version is correct (we've found both in different
software manuals)
1) warranty is disclaimed
or
2) liability is excluded
We are Germans with English as second language and we can't see a signifant
difference between these two possibilities.
Which term do you use in your manuals?
TIA and greetings from Germany
Andreas
