Bruce, thanks for starting this thread. It has been very interesting to
read the different ideas and preferences people have.

It is interesting that some have aversions to documenting gambling.

At a previous company I wrote "Par Sheets" for new Electronic Gaming
Machines (EGM) (slots and video poker). It was a lot of math explaining
to the Gaming Control Board of Nevada the statistical probabilities of
player winnings and casino holdings (aka "the odds").

I don't bother even dropping a nickel in a slot machine any more.
Casinos are designed to take advantage of the greedy and the innumerate
(mathematical equivalent of "illiterate").

Now I work for a company that makes networked casino management software
tools. Some account for all the money played in every EGM in the casino
(POS), some account for money transferred between the cash cages and the
tables in the pits, and some track the players (CRM). The latter is a
virtual Big Brother. Most people have no idea how much personal
information a casino collects on its customers. They are masters at
targeted marketing -- think junkets.

It is not very interesting or exciting work. I think that documenting a
porn site would be just as boring.

In the past I have worked in the defense industry documenting processes
used in the construction of nuclear weapons. It was extremely
interesting from the technical viewpoint and paid very well. My
preference would be to work in the defense or nuclear industries.

For those of you who are approached with "unacceptable" jobs, feel free
to send them my way.
