An interesting observation about Yigal?s ?quiz? -- It was geared towards
software documentation and left little room for ?evaluating? anything
else.
I?m working with an engineering firm, not a software firm, so I do
things like proposals, requests for information, brochures, and work on
the company?s web site. I?m the first technical writer the company has
had in its 30 year history. I?ve begun compiling a style guide. Once I
get done writing for the web site, I am planning to sit down and do a
review of the documentation and see what I can do to improve it. I?ve
already got some good ideas based on what I have seen in doing research
for the web site writing.
After looking at Hackos? book again this morning, I would say BBI is at
a 1.5 in the level of process maturity. The good news is that people
have appreciated what I?ve done so far and have been receptive to my
suggestions for the most part.
If anyone has implemented Hackos? model at an engineering firm, I would
like to here about your experience.
Paula
