Aside from the reason of not getting it back, I don't leave my
portfolio for a different reason. A portfolio is not eveluated in a
vacuum, but with the conditions under which it was created. I want to
be able to answer the following question:

"Gee...this piece doesn't seem as polished as some of the others. I
notice it was done in Frame...it must mean that you have limited
experience in Frame?."

With the answer, "No...what you see is is a 30 page user guide that
was created in 24 hours which saved the deadline for the PM when he
forgot to tell me about it when he should have, about 3 weeks
earlier."

What might be mediocre for a three week turnaround is brilliant under
a 24 hour turnaround. And please...no "Blurb accompanying the piece
explaining the details." since you can NEVER anticipate all the
questions people can come up with.
