Re: Question about precontract stage
Is it considered part of marketing oneself to begin work (reading business
plans, briefing papers, and other documents pertaining to the job) before
one has a signed contract?
Apologies for weighing in late in this discussion, but -- the article "Ten Tips for Creating a Bad Business Agreement" lists the following as tip #5: "Begin the business relationship before the agreement is finished" (recall the title of this article). While beginning work before getting a contract signed may be tempting and even common, it can (and often does) result in legal disputes.
