TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Previous threads have shown that most writers vehemently oppose the idea
of being asked to take a writing test during an interview. I was one of
the few in favor of giving writing tests, a stance which I was told made
me a mean nasty person who posed unfair pressure on job applicants.
Yet it seems that many writers' resumes (regardless of their appearance
and content) will be discarded for having been created using a method that
differs from how the interviewer would use a certain piece of software,
even though knowledge of that software is not being advertised as a job
requirement, and that software will not be used as part of the job.
And that's fair.
Okay. If you say so......

table with invisible borders AND guides, using a trick I learned on this
list" Cronin
