Many employers specify the format they prefer, and I follow their
instructions to the letter. I keep my resume updated in Word, RTF and
plain text formats. I have had employers and recruiters ask for all
three.
If an employer or recruiter does not specify a format, I ask which they
would prefer, and supply it. If the employer is asking for proficiency
in Word, I send the Word attachment.
