I'm wondering if this is a regional thing: how do any of you manage to work
as TWs without needing to use Word? I'm a bit of a tool snob, too, but a
realistic one. If I could get a job using FrameMaker or some other really
nice tool like that, I'd sure take it, but in my five years as a TW, I've
never worked at a job that didn't use Word at all. Best case was a site that
used RoboHELP and FrameMaker, and even RH (WinHelp) needs Word to work.

"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that
English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words;
on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them
unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." -- James D. Nicoll
