>>A well-planned process can produce total garbage if it's inputs are total
garbage.
>>GIGO (garbage in - garbage out), as they say.
To which the argument is: A well planned process either doesn't accept garbage
or identifies it before it's released/processed. Or indeed that the
identification of garbage inputs is the users/participants responsibility.
Saying process is bad is like a chef saying that recipe books are bad. There are
a lot of bad recipe books out there, but for the majority of people the only way
they stand a chance of cooking well is to have a good recipe (process) to
follow.
Even with the good recipes/recipe books, do you fault the book/recipe or the
cook if the ingredients used were spoiled or somehow wrong? No, because the
garbage in was the fault of the chef not the recipe. But the process in that
case could certainly be improved to ensure only good/fresh ingredients were
used.
In the absence of recipes, some chefs can reproduce excellent results
repeatedly. Others, while talented, will often be unable to reproduce inspired
masterpieces if the process was not recorded.
