A solution to this issue is to use anchors instead of hard returns.

insert the graphic in the default setting in Word 2000

EMBED your graphics inline with text...(then) they're just great big characters with their own paragraphs
I am currently getting to the finishing stages of a document that has several images made from the Word drawing tool. I'm using Word 97 SR2. I tried using locked anchors to keep the figures from running off the page, but it doesn't seem to be working. I tested embedding a jpeg inline with text, and that worked great. But, I don't see a way to embed Word-generated graphics. I am considering using an image editor (unfortunately, I only have MS Photo Editor) to convert all my Word graphics to jpegs or something, but that seems like a time-consuming way to go.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I would appreciate any ideas. Also, I am on digest, so please cc to me on any responses.
Thanks,
Eva
