Closet librarians: book on UF USE X NT BT RT wanted

I am looking at building a controlled vocabulary so that indexes of
user guides are more consistent across products.

In the library science trade, these are known as Subject Headings,
Thesauri, and Controlled Vocabularies (as in the Library of Congress
Subject Headings).

Do any technical writers, indexers, or librarians, know of
software for building these beasts, with cross-links automatically
maintained?

Also, can anybody sell me superseded editions of

Chan, Lois Mai, Library of Congress subject headings: principles and
application

and

Aitchison, Jean, and Alan Gilchrist, Thesaurus construction and use:
a practical manual

Finally, does anybody know the URL of a librarians' site or mail list?
