Steve,
These agencies are jerking your chain. they must be collecting a $65-$85 per hr rate and then cutting that in half for their freelancers. I have *never* worked for a pharma company or even an agency attached to a pharma company for less than $50 per hour, and the average rates are significantly higher. Routinely, when they offer a contract salary range, it's usually $1,000 per day or $125 per hour plus expenses and sometimes lodging! I look reflectively back at them and nod "that's fine."
