Seems this is true for JPEG 2000 (thanks for the hint!), but not for
"normal", old-fashioned JPEG?
I just saved a screenshot from IrfanView in three formats:
* standard JPEG, highest quality: 75 KB
* JPEG 2000, without compression: 29 KB (not bad!)
* GIF: 9 KB - better!
