Re: indian newbie
Malinowski is God!!!I'm sure I've said this before but I like to compare tech-writing to anthropology. First, you're observing the alien culture of geekdom and interpreting it for outsiders. Second, like any decent participant observer, you have to be aware of the difference between what is actually happening, what people say is happening, and what is supposed to happen.
A Cultural Anthro degree is very valuable in Tech writing. Depending on your
program, you are least learned field techniques. My program also included
lots of cognitive pysch. Lots. Which is VERY handy to know in this field. I
can sell my anthro background as a HUGE advantage. For nearly anything.
LOVE anthro. Hence, my company name.
(There's probably a third, fourth and even a fifth, but the analogy will snap if I extend it indefinitely).
