The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Ah yes, but unlike modern anthropologists,
we hope to influence our "subjects" into
accepting the modern "culture" of
usability, and rejecting their "heathen"
religion of the gods of the convoluted
interface. :-)

I'm sure I've said this before but I like to compare tech-writing to
anthropology. First, you're observing the alien culture of geekdom and
interpreting it for outsiders. Second, like any decent participant observer,
you have to be aware of the difference between what is actually happening,
what people say is happening, and what is supposed to happen.
(There's probably a third, fourth and even a fifth, but the analogy will
snap if I extend it indefinitely).
