For scripting languages:
I use Perl a lot; mostly for search and replaces and global text
manipulations (more efficent than emacs or vi). Increasingly,
though, it's being supreceded by Python, which is much more
sophisticated. I use Rebol occasionally for web-based retrieval and
suchlike. I use DSSSL a lot for text conversions (Lisp/Scheme-based
text processing language), and of course XSLT ... oh, and
JavaScript/JScript, plus a little Visual Basic ... not to forget sed,
awk and a few others ...
The above I use for work, as in tech writing work.
I use C/C++ daily, but that's because the things I document use them,
so I'm not really using them *in* tech writing.
