Thanks to all those who responded to my questions about how to break large,
complex flowcharts across pages of a doc. Here is the summary:
-- If the primary output is to a paper format, foldouts may prevent the
issue entirely.
-- If the primary output is to an electronic format, hyperlinks to a
graphic format unconstrained by page size may prevent the issue entirely.
-- If breaks cannot be prevented, it is preferable to revise the flowchart
itself to split it into pieces, embedding off-page and on-page connectors
to join pieces.
-- It is deemed preferable to break the pieces out into logical chunks,
rather than just wherever-the-page-breaks chunks.
-- Two main conventions were mentioned regarding the connectors: one set
uses labeled circles for all connectors, while the other uses labeled
circles for on-page connectors and labeled "home plate"
(inverted-house-like pentagonal) shapes for off-page connectors.
Thanks again for your input!
