Subject:More problems with Word numbering From:Kathryn Marshall <Kathryn -dot- E -dot- Marshall -at- jpl -dot- nasa -dot- gov> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 07 May 2002 15:21:13 -0700
The document I'm updating contains several heading levels, none of which
make sense, but none of which I can change either. For example:
1. HEADING 1
a. Heading 2
(1) Heading 3
I used Word's built-in headings, but modified the paragraph and numbering
properties. Was working just fine except for some reason, every time I
restart page numbering, for example, with Heading 3, the formatting CHANGES
-- forcing me to "manually fix" everything (which of course defeats the
purpose of auto-numbering!!!). In particular I have set a .5" hanging
indent for the Heading 3 style and it KEEPS switching back to .25." Does
anyone know why? This makes no sense to me -- is it a bug?
(Note: In the archives, I found several suggestions for using the SEQ field
instead... When I have some time I'm going to play around with this...)
My background FYI: Avid FrameMaker user being forced to update a Word
document. Using Frame is not an option unfortunately.
Thanks,
Kathryn
