I use a pencil or pen only when absolutely necessary, otherwise, it's a
keyboard for me. My handwriting sucks, it always has. When I was learning
to write, the teacher used to pass out gold and silver stars for excellent
handwriting, birds and flowers for good, and red dots for passable. I
couldn't even get a stupid dot. So you think I tried to apply myself and
improve my handwriting? No way, not me. I schemed ways to trip her so that
she would drop the stickers and I could steal a star. It's sad, really.
Sometimes when I'm talking to a developer, I try to take notes with a
mechanical pencil, but there's no point: it takes so much effor for me to
write legibly that I can't keep up. So I've decided to invest in a small
tape recorder so I can type my notes when I get back to my workstation.
As for personal correspondance and creative writing, I'm convinced both
will greatly improve when I buy the notebook I've been eying for months. I
have a computer at home, but it's big and ugly and stuck in our messy
office. I'm looking forward to propping myself up in the living room with
the small wonder on my lap, churning out perfectly legible pearls of
wisdom...
