The most common for me is during meetings while someone is writing on the white board, they will turn to me and say: "How do you spell. . .?"
When I used to say, "gee, I don't know", they would all look at me with horror! Now, I just make up a spelling if I don't know it. I think there is a large group of engineers spelling certain words incorrectly because they believed me, lol.
