Re: MS Word docs to OpenOffice: a summary
UserForms dont convert. Macros don't convert.I haven't tried it, but, according to the on-line help, macros can be preserved when a document is opened in OpenOffice, so that they're available the next time the document is opened in MS Word.
Bear in mind, of course, that a translation filter that is 100% effective doesn't exist - nor is likely to. Theoretically, one is possible, but the effort to make one would be prohibitive.
On the other side of the coin,OpenOffice page styles don't convert to MS Word, simply because MS Word has no equivalent. Just the individual pages convert. So, no matter which way you go, intelligent planning is needed, same as usual.
An alternative might be to use RTF to switch back and forth between the two programs.
