Why do you rate the Microsft Manual of Style as an arbiter of grammar? I may
sometimes refer to it as a yardstick of conventional terminology for

I don't do the one long pass with Word's grammar checker. I do two,
manual, page-by-page passes with Chicago 14 and the MS MoSfTP by my
side. It takes me a couple of days, but is well-worth the effort. (I do
use Word's spell checker, though.)
