FrameMaker 7 will run in classic, 9.2, mode on the Mac. Lee has hinted
on this forum that Adobe might speed up an investigation of moving
FrameMaker to OSX.
FrameMaker 7 on the Mac and Windows are compatible and similar. However,
remember some things are OS dependent, like EMF, WMF, BMP, many font and
font naming structures, etc. So, any cross-platform issues will be
OS-related, not FrameMaker-related.
I think Windows has the best implementation of FrameMaker, because I've
got more tools, like WWP Pro for single sourcing. Although, those who
use color in print would have excellent grounds to disagree. So, the
question is more of what do you want from your operating system, rather
than which FrameMaker is better.
I'm going to order a new desktop and am tempted to get
a mac, but my co-workers all have pcs. If I'm using
Framemaker on the mac, are there going to be
significant interoperability issues?
Are the interfaces close enough that I could teach new
writers on pcs to use framemaker given that I'm using
a Mac?
Which platform has the best implementation of
framemaker, and is it true that adobe won't be coming
out with Frame for OSx?
