I had a similar experience with an HP print driver at my previous employer.
All the problems started after an existing HP printer was replaced with a
different model.

After spending several days working with the IT department, the print driver
was identified as the culprit. Unfortunately, the company had a round of
layoffs and the documentation department was eliminated before a permanent
solution could be implemented.
