I worked on a project where we tried to use a master document. We
discovered that master documents are not only troublesome, but can easily
be corrupted. We got some information from the Microsoft Word MVP site,
which might be useful for you to peruse, at http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/WhyMasterDocsCorrupt.htm. Others may
have more specific information about a workaround for your situation, but
it didn't seem like a master document was worth the trouble.

Hi,
I am new with working with Word since I've been writing mostly online help
before. I have some experience with FrameMaker+SGML, but not with Word.
Here is my question:
I'm writing a manual and I have to use Word. I am using a master doc
feature, but I cannot create a pdf. It fails each time with an error like
"unable to map a structure". When I create a pdf from subdocuments, it
works
just fine. Anyone knows a workaround?
Regards,
Bostjan
