Understanding the product is not the problem that I'm try to address....I
have other ways I'm addressing that. The problem is that this isn't a
product, but a system...much of the entire system behind the B&N.com web
site. This is a dynamic system that is continually modified... directories
change, sources/destinations of files change, versions of configurations
change. This is the type of stuff I'm asking the developers to relate to me.
I try to keep track of this by reading emails between developers posted to
an internal group that is used by the developers to let each other know what
is being changed. I have shortcuts to the .cfg and .ini files where these
changes are placed and compare them regularly. I attend most of the daily
staff meetings. However, some changes are more obscure, yet just as
important (an example being changes to the transactional Remote Function
Calls (tRFC) for SAP connection, or changes to NATs that are used by the
AS400s to get through the firewalls, or the IP addresses for any one of 50
network servers). It is these changes that I want them to look for in the
documentation and submit revisions.
