I worked for an employer who essentially laid off 80% of their
programmers and outsourced their programming to India. From what I could
tell, the programming was done well but managing the project, getting
features in the way we wanted was a bit of trouble--probably half of
this was our ability to communicate what we thought our customers
needed.
There are Indian members of this list--hopefully this will bounce around
until one of them gets hold of it. And, I think a bunch of U.K.
companies, like British Telecom, are doing such things in volume, also.

Subject: outsourcing technical communication
I am looking for information about outsourcing technical communication
(end-user documentation, system administration documentation) to
technical
writers in India. I would particularly like to talk to a North American
manager who has had experience with this.
