Fwd: capitalization of proper names
the proper name of the software I am documenting consists of two words,
divided by a dot. The first word is all lower case, the second in capital
letters. For example: soft.WARE
How do I have to write the software name at the beginning of a sentence? Is
it soft.WARE or Soft.WARE?
We have a similar situation in one of our projects. The solution we agreed upon is two-pronged:
- Try to avoid using the name at the beginning of a sentence.
- Where it cannot be avoided, do not capitalize the name.
I am not aware of any general rules covering this situation.
Regards
Jan Henning
