STC does focus exclusively on theory and methodology and
not on content. Maybe they should change their name to the Society for
Communication Theory and Methodology.

But would that be any better? Wouldn't it sound as if the society should also concern itself with oral communciation (e.g., rhetorics), advertising (AKA "market communications") and many other forms of communication that the STC is not intended to cover?

We might then have to deal with irate communicators that demand that the (then) SCTM pay equal attention to non-technical methods of communication or change its name to STC...
