Re: what I recently heard
i recently heard someone say the following:
"I'd almost rather have it [the content of docs] be consistent and be wrong, than to have documents that aren't consistent."
i didn't really know how to respond to this. I was kind of dumbfounded actually. What's a good way to respond to such a statement?
How about asking him/her for the reasons for this opinion? I found that asking is rarlely wrong: You give yourself the opportunity to learn more about the issue at hand before committing yourself to an opinion. At the same time, you give your interlocutor a chance to retract what may have been a thoughtless statement without making him (or her, but this is usually more of a problem for men) seem to lose face by 'giving in' to you.
