In this economy, I feel kind of silly for complaining about my full-time permanent job with a good wage, benefits, annual profit sharing and free indoor parking, but seriously, folks, here goes:

Two weeks ago, a project I've been working on for 6 weeks was pushed back, and I wasn't included on the mailing list. I've been working with the technical project lead, project manager, developers and trainers, and after asking to be copied on the original e-mail, I seemed to be the ONLY person "on" the project left off the list.

About 6 weeks ago, a new quality assurance manager was hired (my new boss). On the first day she was introduced to and had meetings with the rest of the QA team (QA analysts) and was introduced to all the BAs and had meetings with them in the first week. I met her when I walked into her cubicle looking for the person who used to sit in there. I introduced myself, we shook hands, and we didn't speak again for 4 weeks. This isn't any different, incidentally, from my last manager; if we weren't both smokers, we would never have spoken at all.

Now I don't mind being minimally managed, and with clear direction I'm just as happy to work on my own, but this is getting ridiculous. I sit with the business analysts but I'm not one of them; I am part of the QA team but I don't sit with them or work with them either. I'm getting tired of trying to market myself and the value I can add to projects, processes, and existing systems with no support, no direction, no management. /whining off
