Here's a summary of the responses I saw to the OP question. It does
look encouraging.
Seattle area YES Two unsolicited job interview offers
in the last 24 hours
NYC area YES 4-6 unsolicited requests for resume
in last 30 days
Central Ohio MAYBE Not the Roaring Nineties, but things might
be starting to look up a bit.
Orlando, FL NO "Wanted: Dept. Mgr., 10 yrs exp.,
will take $30k" -- yeah, right!
Loc. Unk. MAYBE A few more listings on job sites I visit
California MAYBE Hints that the market is finally relaxing
a little
Dallas, TX NO Still very "chilly" in Big-D. We were so
heavily into telecom...
Rochester, NY NO ...what Orlando said...
SE Michigan YES Auto companies hiring again, but low-
balling salaries...
Connecticutt NO
Loc. Unk. MAYBE VC funding of startups apparently
increasing...
Ireland NO Top-tier jobs; near bottom-tier pay.
Rockville, MD YES Federal tax dollars keep the whole region
toasty warm.
Boston NO Unemployment is rampant.
Toronto MAYBE A few unsolicited inquiries
South Florida NO Economy not as warm as the weather --
few jobs listed.
Silicon Valley MAYBE Trend hard to discern, but openings may
be increasing.
