The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.

My group has been given the go-ahead to obtain
the services of a few tool-oriented TechWriters
and editors on a contract basis.
Just another data point in the discussion of
some potential jobs out there, not a job posting.
Disclaimer!
No, I don't know when or how this will be done,
how many, or where. Although we are based in the
Silicon valley area, the position could be
anywhere since we are already a global team.
Don't ask me for a job, or further details, as
This will probably be through an agency, and I
don't know the agencies that we use.
We are splitting our TW's into SME's and tools
people. The current product TW's will become
SME's with a documentation focus, and we will
leave the formatting and editing details to others
(contractors mostly). We have recognized that
technical mastery of the product is foremost,
and mastery of the various tools to produce the
docs are secondary and have organized ourselves
along those lines.
