Subject:new version of OpenOffice.org available From:Bruce Byfield <bbyfield -at- axionet -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 21 Jan 2003 15:21:33 -0800
For anybody who's been following OpenOffice.org (and I know there are at
least a few from private messages), version 1.0.2 has just been released.
As the numbering suggests, it's a very minor upgrade (nice to see that
version inflation hasn't set in). There's no new features that I can see
in OpenOffice.org Writer, but the code seems to have been optimized. The
slow startup that many people complained about has been reduced by at
least half on Linux, and more on Windows, and files open faster, too.
For these reasons alone, the new version is worth downloading.
For what it's worth, I've been using the new version all day without any
problems.
The new version is a free download for Windows, Linux, and Solaris
available at www.openoffice.org.
