Re: Fw: The odds of finding work through job ads
I'm wondering if the writers who are saying they've got most jobs through
contacts have all been in the business a long time. I suppose if I was a
contractor, and had worked for many clients over the years, my chances of
being hired through contacts would be higher than through ads.
The very first contracting job I got was through a former boss when he went to a different company.
The second was through one of the engineers I met at the first one, when *he* went to another company.
There's no way to really know how much networking you've done and who has noticed you, especially here in Silicon Valley, where I am. It's very small, and you may know more people than you think.
