Background in or at least basic knowledge of business/marketing writing (the focus of a proposal is different than technical manuals)

Ability to work with various teams, coordinate information gathering and reviews, and coordinate production and graphics

Great time-management and planning skills -- need to be able to see what goals need to be made by what dates/times to make the deadline

Problem solving skills - to creatively deal with it when the goals are not made in time

Stamina and energy - for those late night 24-hour sessions right before deadlines

Not having a life - see above. <grin>

Knowledge of the tools used to create the proposal - don't want to have a learning curve right at deadline
